Eligibility for Treatment Through Funds
Health care and treatment are the rights of every human being. Therefore, those who cannot afford to pay for treatment at the hospital can apply for assistance through zakat funds or the hospital’s own resources. Although Murshid Hospital offers treatment at its special clinics at very minimal charges, patients requiring expert consultation or specific treatment may be referred to the Patients Welfare Association (PWA) for funding further treatment.
The attendant or patient should fill out the Zakat Form, attach a copy of their CNIC, and apply for zakat or free treatment. Mostly, patients referred to PWA clinics are in critical condition and require further opinions from consultants.
Upon receiving the request, the PWA Committee evaluates the patient’s physical and financial condition. After proper evaluation, a fixed amount is allocated for the treatment. In some cases, if the committee feels the patient can bear part of the cost, they may ask the patient to pay a certain percentage of the treatment while the rest is covered by hospital or PWA funds.
